Squarespace Domain Setup with Google Workspace Email, MX, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC

Updated over 2 months ago

Hey there!

Ready to set up your Stamina.io domain with Google Workspace for email? Let's walk through it together, step by step. Don't worry—I'll keep it simple and straightforward.

1. Verify Your Domain

First, we need to let Google know that you own your Stamina.io domain.

  • Log in to your Google Admin Console.

  • Navigate to the 'Domains' section and select 'Add a domain.'

  • Enter your Stamina.io domain and choose 'Secondary domain,' then click 'Next.'

  • Now, head over to your Stamina.io domain settings.

  • Find the DNS settings or DNS management area.

  • Back in the Google Admin Console, you'll receive a TXT record.

  • In your Stamina.io DNS settings, add a new TXT record with the details provided by Google.

  • Once added, return to Google and click 'Verify.'

This step tells Google that you own the domain and allows you to set up email services.

2. Set Up Gmail (Email) for Your Domain

Now, let's get your email up and running.

  • In the Google Admin Console, go to the 'Apps' section and select 'Google Workspace.'

  • Click on 'Gmail,' then find and click 'Activate Gmail.'

  • Google will provide MX records—these are settings that direct your email to Google’s servers.

  • Go back to your Stamina.io DNS settings.

  • Add new MX records using the information from Google.

  • After adding these, return to Google and confirm the setup.

This connects your domain to Google's email servers, so you can send and receive emails using your domain.

3. Enhance Email Delivery and Security

To ensure your emails land in inboxes (not spam) and are secure, we'll set up some additional records: SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.

SPF Record:

  • In your Stamina.io DNS settings, add a new TXT record.

  • Set the 'Host' field to '@' and the 'Value' to: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all

  • Save the record.

DKIM Record:

  • In the Google Admin Console, go to 'Apps' > 'Google Workspace' > 'Gmail.'

  • Click on 'Authenticate Email' (this might also be labeled as 'Set up email authentication').

  • Choose your domain and generate a new DKIM record.

  • Google will provide a TXT record name and value.

  • Add this TXT record to your Stamina.io DNS settings.

  • Wait for about an hour, then return to Google and start the authentication process.

DMARC Record:

  • In your Stamina.io DNS settings, add a new TXT record.

  • Set the 'Host' field to _dmarc and the 'Value' to: v=DMARC1; p=none; pct=100; rua=mailto:[email protected]; ri=86400; fo=1

  • Replace [email protected] with your actual email address if you want to receive reports.

  • Save the record.

These settings help protect your domain from unauthorized use and improve email deliverability.
